Penny Thompson went home to settle her father’s estate, sell the family farm, and return to her carefree single life in the city. She didn’t count on finding a body buried by the creek, or reconnecting with her old high school sweetheart. She certainly didn’t expect that the ghosts of the farm would pull her into a web of lies and deception by town officials, who want Penny to sell and leave badly enough to kill her, if necessary.
Ghost Creek is not available in stores or on Amazon. It is a ten-part novella, originally scheduled to be published in InD’Tale Magazine, an online repository of articles about indie authors and reviews of independent books. Parts 1 & 2 of Ghost Creek were published in the October 2023 issue. Part 3 was published in the November issue and Part 4 in the December issue. Unfortunately, InD’Tale unexpectedly closed its virtual doors after the December issue and is no longer in business. Readers who started the novella in October (or anyone finding it now) can now read the entire story without waiting for each month’s chapter to appear in the magazine. To preserve the format of the story — intended to be read one chapter per month over ten months — I have preserved the pre-chapter summaries (“previously, on Ghost Creek“), intended to re-set the story for readers who had read the prior chapter a full month earlier. Current readers can skim or skip the introductory paragraphs. A reformatted version of the novella will be published at a future date.
