Mysteries don’t get any better than this one. It’s a masterful and thoroughly enjoyable read.
Michael Connelly doesn’t need more reviews for Resurrection Walk. I’ve been a huge fan for decades and model my own writing on his formidable foundation. I picked up this Kindle on a discount deal and could not have enjoyed the read more. It’s fast-paced, full of twists and action as well as heart and soul. I’ll overlook a big technical stretch (you can’t actually track a cell phone’s movements as precisely as depicted, nor conduct the analysis of cell phone tower/ping data so quickly or five years later) and Mickey Haller’s failure to take the obvious next step when his case hit a roadblock (when he could easily have overcome the court’s ruling against him by having his witness testify as to the key facts directly, without relying on a simulation that was excluded from evidence). All this is well within artistic license bounds. This book includes some of the best courtroom scenes ever written. There is a large conspiracy, but also a singular wrongfully convicted woman seeking release. The chase is both frustrating and satisfying.
All fans of police procedurals, mysteries, and legal thrillers will love this read. At the end of the book, Mr. Connelly thanks us, his readers (and booksellers) who have allowed him to have a marvelous and lucrative career. It’s a nice gesture. But, Mr. Connelly, it is we who thank you for giving us such wonderful books. And I, as a much less successful or well-known author, thank you for teaching me what a great novel looks like. It doesn’t get any better than this one.
is there a sequel to this book?
